National Air Quality Awareness Week is a time to highlight the importance of protecting and improving air quality.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the Colorado DMV2GO service coming to the Mesa County Workforce Center, 512 29 ½ Road, next week.

During the commissioners' April 29 public hearing, they ratified several letters of support and request letters to be sent to Rep. Jeff Hurd regarding the inclusion of 21 Mesa County transportation projects in the 2025 Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill.

The Mesa County Building Department is offering two free training sessions on the latest updates to residential and commercial building codes from 7 to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, and Wednesday, May 14, at the Mesa County Fairgrounds, 2785 U.S. Highway 50 in Grand Junction. The sessions will cover information on Mesa County amendments, the 2024 International Building Code (IBC), the 2024 International Residential Code (IRC), the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), and Colorado's Model Electric and Solar Ready Codes.

The Mesa County Assessor’s Office will conclude the 2025 reappraisal and mail Notices of Value (NOV) to all taxpayers on May 1, 2025. The NOV will reflect sales, other data, and analyses from Jan. 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024. Taxpayers are encouraged to study their NOV carefully, as tax bills will be based on this Actual Value next January.

Herbicide treatments along Mesa County roadways in the Collbran, Mesa, and Molina areas are scheduled for the week of May 12 — and property owners wishing to opt out must join the "No Spray" list.
